You may
have heard of the expression, "getting saved" or being
"born again".
These are terms that refer to a change in a person's
heart (or spirit) through a personal relationship with
the Lord Jesus Christ, through faith. By experiencing
this change you are able to go to heaven when you die.
Why is this important?
1. God is a Holy God
This means that it is impossible for
a sinful person to be in the presence of God. God is a
"consuming fire" and basically you would be "toast" if
you got close to him with sin in your life.
2. All men prior to
"getting saved" have a sin problem.
At this point many people feel
offended and think, "Why, I am better than a lot of
people that go to church!" Well, this may be true,
because a lot of people aren't saved that go to church,
plus many believers still choose to live carnal and
compromising lives. But, what does that have to do with
whether or not you are going to heaven? Absolutely
nothing, so please read the rest of this message.
3. God
sent his only begotten son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to
die for us and take away our sin problem by His shed
blood. This is the only cure. Nothing else works.
4. The way a person receives what Jesus did for them is
by:
Believing the "gospel" or the above
information. Then receiving Jesus Christ by confessing
with your mouth that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.
The Bible says that when you do this, a change takes
place in your heart. Your sin is cleansed. You become a
partaker of the righteousness of Jesus.
So now you are ready for
heaven. Don't leave earth without it!
Hear is a prayer that you can pray
that will guide you through this process. As you say
these words, let your heart agree with them.
O God in heaven. Thank you for
making it possible for me to be in your holy presence.
Thank you for sending your son, Jesus Christ, to take
my sins away. I believe the gospel. I believe He died
for me and rose again. I confess Him as my Personal
Lord and Savior. Jesus, come into my heart and change
me. Take every stain of sin away. I receive your
righteousness now. I know it is not based on anything
that I have done, but on faith in what Jesus did for me.
I am now saved. Praise God! I am ready for heaven.
